Local Attractions

Our accommodations are situated in ideal locations from which to explore the many and varied delights which reach far beyond the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park..

Glen Fruin

The unspoiled area is home to one of the last clan battles ever waged in Scotland, the Battle of Glen Fruin between Clan Gregor and Clan Colquhoun in 1603, truly a historic landscape worthy of exploration.

Loch Lomond

Just across the road from the cottage is world famous ‘bonnie, bonnie banks
o’ Loch Lomond’ and a perfect spot to relax, bask in nature’s finery and enjoy
a family picnic.

Loch Lomond, the largest body of inland water in the UK , provides a beautiful setting for a range of water-based activities from kayaking and windsurfing to jet-skiing and sailing.

There is also a chance to see Scotland like never before – from the air - with a trip on Loch Lomond Seaplanes, the only commercial seaplane service in the UK which takes off and lands just 10 minutes from Auchendennan.

The Waverley

A short 6 mile drive to the seaside town of Helensburgh, birth place of television pioneer John Logie Baird, provides easy access to the Waverley, last ocean going paddle steamer in the world.

Operating throughout the summer and autumn, the 61-year-old ship typically leaves Helensburgh early afternoon for a leisurely and picturesque trip
“doon the water” of the Clyde as far as Dunoon, Rothesay, Tighnabruaich, Largs, Millport and Holy Isle & Pladda.

The boat was built in 1947 after the original Waverley sunk off Dunkirk in 1940. Today it is probably the most photographed vessel in the world.

Eating Out

Auchendennan Farm Cottage is a mere five minutes from several first class restaurants including The Cruin Restaurant, which serves traditional food with superb views of Loch Lomond, and Lomond’s restaurant in Cameron House, which serves a range of menus from a la carte, three course Market Menu and Childrens Menu.

For those wishing to make eating out more of an adventure a ferry picks people up from Midross on the A82 and whisks them out to Inchmurrin Island, the largest of Loch Lomond’s islands for an unforgettable dining experience and enjoy spectacular views.

Glasgow

Just a half hours drive down the A82 is Scotland’s largest city and the best shopping centre in Britain outside of London.
Glasgow is renowned for its vast retail sector, football clubs, museums, thriving night life, music scene, cinemas, art galleries and theatres.

The city centre is home to most of Glasgow’s cultural venues such as The Theatre Royal (home of Scottish Opera and Ballet), The Pavilion, The King’s Theatre, Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, Glasgow Film Theatre (renowned for showing independent films), the Gallery of Modern Art and the world’s tallest cinema, the eighteen-screen Cineworld in Renfrew Street.

Pubs and eateries are found in abundance in the city which beat of stern competition to win the right to host the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
